Frequently asked questions about music cafe...
WILL THE MUSIC BE TOO LOUD?
Most functions are social occasions where people may want to dine, converse
and dance. The music volume will be kept at an appropriate level to the
vent and to each stage of the occasion.
At a formal occasion, such as a wedding or dinner dance, the music will
help create, or add to, the proper atmosphere without being an imposition
on the guests.
For the cocktail hour and during dinner the music level shouldn't be so
loud as to be distracting when people are engaged in conversation. As the
event moves onto the dancing stage of the evening and guests move on to
the dance floor then the volume will increase to add to the party atmosphere.
There should be some quieter areas away from the dance floor. When creating table plans it is advisable to have some tables away from the main dancing area and the speakers so that, if guests prefer, they can still enjoy conversation rather than dancing.
However, if you really want to let rip with the sound as the event progresses then you got it!
DOES THE DJ TALK A LOT?
The vast number of guests prefer to listen to the music rather than to the sound of the DJ saying something, usually inaudible, in between every song.
Of course, the DJ will take requests, read dedications and make announcements to help your evening be an enjoyable success.
Music Café let's the music do the talking!
IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
The DJ will always be well-groomed and dress appropriately for the occasion whether it be a black tie affair or a club disco. He will not have tattoos, piercings or a shaved head!
WHAT'S YOUR ERA?
Now this is getting personal! Essentially my musical tastes are very eclectic,
from Beethoven to the Beatles and beyond!
The main thing to remember is that I play what you want and what will work
for the occasion, not what I like.
On the personal level, if you were brought up with the Kinks, Searchers,
the Hollies, Eagles and Dire Straits then we could be "cooking with
gas!" On the other hand, probably like you, I just like 'good music'
whatever the era.
SO WHAT WAS THE FIRST SINGLE YOU EVER BOUGHT?
Take Good Care of My Baby by Bobby Vee. It cost 6/9d from Woolworths! (I was very young then! - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)
DO YOU DO CHILDREN'S DISCOS?
No.
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?
See PRICES
CAN YOU DO A QUIZ?
Of course. General knowledge, nostalgia, music etc.
Usually during a disco evening I'll ask a fun question anyway and the winner
receives a fabulously cheap prize!
